As of 2010, the Bullets have not returned to the championship series. The San Antonio Spurs made their first visit to the conference finals in the 1979 playoffs. The 1979 playoffs also marked the first time that three of the former ABA teams would make the postseason, as it marked the NBA playoff debut of the New Jersey Nets.
