It has been proposed that ownership of the station could transfer to Transport for London. In 2009 the station was identified as one of the ten worst category B interchange stations for mystery shopper assessment of fabric and environment, and is set to receive a share of 50m funding for improvements. The station will become an interchange with the East London Transit in 2010.
