The Societe de transport de Montreal (English: Montreal Transit Corporation) is the agency that operates buses and the Metro on the Island of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. The name Societe de transport de Montreal (STM) came into being in 2002, when all of the municipalities that made up the Montreal Urban Community were merged together to form a 'mega-city' with the central city of Montreal (which was also a part of the Montreal Urban Community).
