This is not always the case, but this type of dancing is always called sokkie. Folklore has it that this type of dancing was taken from the American style: Sock Hop. Loopdans, two-step, boogie turns, social foxtrot and boerewals, which is a viennese waltz, are danced in sokkie. Sokkie is not only danced to sokkie music, but can be danced on many types of music, for example hip-hop, trance, rave and pop.
