The album was recorded on September 24, 2003 on the Great Lawn of Central Park in New York, New York in front of a crowd of 121,382, the band's largest audience to date. Tickets to the free concert were distributed to members of the Warehouse Fan Association, and although attendance was free, the show was a benefit concert for New York City Public Schools. Sponsored and broadcast over the web by America Online, the concert was known as "The AOL Concert for Public Schools." Dave Matthews Band, sometimes shortened to DMB, is an American rock band formed in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1990. Founding members were singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Matthews, bassist Stefan Lessard, violinist Boyd Tinsley, drummer and backing vocalist Carter Beauford, and saxophonist LeRoi Moore. In August 2008, LeRoi Moore died due to complications from an ATV accident.
