It became the property of Ilford Borough Council and was used as council offices until 1994. It is owned by the London Borough of Redbridge. It is a Grade II* listed building and is on the Buildings at Risk Register[4] It is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment financed by the Heritage Lottery Fund and by Redbridge. This work was completed in November 2008. The Mansion will re-open for public inspection on the weekend of 14 February 2009 — St Valentine's Day.
