Vorondil was a great hunter, and hunted wild kine in the lands east of the Sea of Rhun. The great Horn of Gondor that Boromir of the Fellowship of the Ring had was descended from Vorondil, an heirloom of the House of Hurin.He died in T.A 2029 and was succeeded by his son Mardil as Steward.
