Following the December 2007 Presidential elections, Kenya was rocked with violence and inter-tribal skirmishes. When the fracas simmered and school resumed by February 2008, everyone thought that such wanton destruction and turmoil was behind them. They energetically sought to concentrate on picking up the pieces, rebuilding infrastructure, restoring commerce, and even militantly catching up on the school syllabi.
