High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Yuriy Dolgorukiy is the first SSBN submarine of the Borei class that is being built for the Russian Navy. Named after the founder of Moscow Yuri Dolgoruki, it was laid down on 2 November 1996 and was first planned to enter service in 2001. However, the SS-N-28 missile that the Borei class was supposed to carry was abandoned after several failed tests, and the submarine was redesigned for the Bulava missile. Bulava missile is smaller than the original SS-N-28, and in the 2007 START treaty data exchange it was reported that all Borei-class submarines would carry 16 missiles instead of 12, as originally intended. She was sunk, and then salvaged and renamed as IJN Suwo. Pobieda was built as the Peresviet-class battleship and commissioned into the Imperial Russian Navy in 1903. It was one of Russia's first ships to mount quick-firing guns. It had a high forecastle and secondary guns mounted on two decks, and armor that stretched the entire length of the hull. It was designed with heavy main armament and high speed, but proved unsatisfactory in service. Данное издание не является оригинальным. Книга печатается...

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! In the 1950s a 5-element system (GOST 5461-59, later 13393-76) was adopted in the (then) Soviet Union for designating receiver vacuum tubes. The 1st element (from left to right) is (for receiving tubes) a number specifying filament voltage in volts (rounded off to the nearest whole number), or (for cathode-ray tubes) the screen diagonal or diameter in cm (rounded-off to the nearest whole number). The new designation convention was applied retrospectively to many of the previously-produced types as well as to those produced afterwards. For example, a Soviet-produced copy of the 6L6 was originally manufactured in the 1940s under its American designation (in Latin lettering), or sometimes a...

Several researchers have attempted to model the development of rutting in airport flexible pavements, but with limited success. With the arrival of new generation of heavy, large aircrafts, this issue is of serious concern, especially due to lack of performance data for new generation aircraft. Based on test results from a full-scale, state-of-the-art airport pavement test facility, it is concluded that reliable prediction of permanent deformation in airport flexible pavements is a daunting task owing to the complexities arising from aircraft loading sequence, gear offset and gear offset sequence and climatic conditions. An adequate forecast of any of these, especially the loading sequence and offset sequence, for a 20-year design is...

The RWD-14 Czapla was a Polish observation, close reconnaissance and liaison aircraft, designed in the mid-1930s by the RWD team, and produced in the LWS factory from 1938. The aircraft was designed in response to a Polish Air Force requirement of 1933 for a new army cooperation plane, a successor of the Lublin R-XIII. The RWD team of the DWL workshops initially proposed the RWD-12 project, based on the RWD-8 trainer. It was however considered as not as good as the R-XIII, and another aircraft, the RWD-14 was designed by Stanislaw Rogalski and Jerzy Drzewiecki. Designer Tadeusz Chyli?ski prepared its technical documentation. Данное издание не является...

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Isayev S-125 Neva/Pechora (Russian: С-125 "Нева"/"Печора", NATO reporting name SA-3 Goa) Soviet surface-to-air missile system was designed to complement the S-25 and S-75. It has a shorter effective range and lower engagement altitude than either of its predecessors and also flies slower, but due to its two-stage design it is more effective against more maneuverable targets. It is also able to engage lower flying targets than the previous systems, and being more modern it is much more resistant to ECM than the S-75. The 5V24 (V-600) missiles reach around Mach 3 to 3.5 in flight, both stages powered by solid fuel rocket motors. The S-125, like the S-75, uses radio command...
Presenting a complete s-band receiver for a phase- comparison monopulse (PCM) tracking radar, this thesis offers a detailed design and implementation of various sub-systems used to realize the receiver. The thesis provides a comprehensive understanding of phase-comparison monopulse (PCM) radar and how any pre-comparator and post-comparator unbalances can be compensated to improve the performance of the radar. It also explains the design, implementation and measurement of several passive sub-systems (a balanced 0/180 microwave hybrid, microwave parallel- coupled-microstrip-line filters, combline filters and harmonic suppression power dividers) and active sub-systems (phased-locked frequency synthesizers, amplifiers and mixers). Besides, a...

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The S-process or slow-neutron-capture-process is a nucleosynthesis process that occurs at relatively low neutron density and intermediate temperature conditions in stars. Under these conditions the rate of neutron capture by atomic nuclei is slow relative to the rate of radioactive beta-minus decay. A stable isotope captures another neutron; but a radioactive isotope decays to its stable daughter before the next neutron is captured. This process produces stable isotopes by moving along the valley of beta-decay stable isobars in the chart of isotopes. The S-process produces approximately half of the isotopes of the elements heavier than iron, and...

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! S-VHS (Super VHS) is an improved version of the VHS standard for consumer video cassette recorders. It was introduced by JVC in Japan in April 1987 with the HR-S7000 VCR and certain overseas markets soon afterwards. Like VHS, the S-VHS format uses a "color under" modulation scheme. S-VHS improves luminance resolution by boosting the luminance carrier from 3 MHz to 5.4 MHz. This produces a 60% improvement in (luminance) picture detail, or a horizontal resolution of 420 lines per picture height versus VHS's 240 lines. The often quoted horizontal resolution of "over 400" means S-VHS captures greater picture detail than even analog cable broadcast TV, which is limited to about 330 lines. In...

Also known as Haldex Generation 4, it is an intelligent permanent all-wheel drive system that can pre-emptively and continuously change torque distribution before wheel slip occurs. To achieve optimum take-off performance, Saab XWD is capable of completely locking the front and rear axles, but can also adapt as little as 4% of torque to the rear wheels during highway cruising, thus maximizing fuel economy. To ensure immediate traction, torque distribution can be transferred to the wheel with the most grip in fractions of a second, and using the two couplings the XWD system...
